Award Competitions
Csaba Horváth Young Scientist Award for best oral presentation
Honoring the memory of Csaba Horváth and recognizing his contributions to HPLC, including his interest in fostering the careers of young people in separation science and engineering, the Csaba Horváth Young Scientist award will go to the best oral presentation made by a young scientist as selected by an award jury. All presenters of oral contributions (excepting past winners) who are less than 35 years of age at the time of their lecture are eligible for consideration. Candidates will be required to provide evidence of eligibility (e.g., passport, driver’s license).
Two main poster competitions and multiple topical poster prizes
Poster presenters will have the opportunity to participate – even with the same abstract – in two separate competitions, both generously sponsored by Agilent Technologies. The first, the “Best Poster Competition”, will award 3 prizes (€ 1,500; € 1,250; € 750) to the posters that showcase innovative work in a clear, engaging manner and are presented with competence during one-on-one interactions with the jury. The second, the “Young Scientists Poster Pitch Competition”, will recognize the 3 young scientists who can best ‘sell’ the work in their poster in a 5-minute pitch talk (€ 1,500; € 1,250; € 750). Admission to the latter competition will be based on abstract reviews, with results communicated well ahead of the conference.
Next to this, there is also a series of topical poster awards that can be won for specific sub-categories:
– € 500 for best poster on “Sustainability Awareness” generously sponsored by KNAUER and to be selected among all posters showing an AGREEprep calculation
– € 500 for best poster on “Biopharmaceutical Analysis” generously sponsored by RIC group
– € 500 for best poster on “Pharmaceutical Analysis” generously sponsored by Janssen Pharma
– € 500 for best poster on “Method Development and Retention Modelling” generously sponsored by Waters
– € 250 for best poster on “Sample Preparation” generously sponsored by the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the EuChemS
Uwe D. Neue Award in Separation Science
The Uwe D. Neue Award was created to recognize scientists that have made and continue to make significant contributions to the field of separation science, in honor of the legacy of Dr. Uwe D. Neue, late scientist and Waters® Corporate Fellow. The award winner is selected through a sub-committee of the permanent scientific committee presided by Dr. Martin Gilar. The award is sponsored by Waters Corporation and will be given at the HPLC 2025 conference.
Nomination for Annual Uwe D. Neue Award in Separation Science at HPLC 2025
About the Award
The Uwe D. Neue Award was created to recognize scientists that have made and continue to make significant contributions to the field of separation science, in honor of the legacy of Dr. Uwe D. Neue, late scientist and Waters® Corporate Fellow. The award will be given at the at the 54th International Symposium on High-Performance-Liquid-Phase Separations and Related Techniques (HPLC 2025) held from June 15-19, 2025 in Bruges, Belgium. The award is sponsored by Waters Corporation.
Eligibility Criteria
The award will honor a distinguished industrial scientist, 15-20 years or more after receiving his or her degree, who has made a significant contribution to the field of separation science. In addition, the awardee should be an industrial scientist, and one who was instrumental in the embodiment of technology in commercial products.
Nominations
The deadline for completing and submitting the nomination information packet is December 31, 2024. The nomination packet will include a CV with nominating letter by the original nominator and a supporting document by a second person. Both letters should describe an individual's impact on separation science based on presentations, publications, patent records, prior honors, and contribution to innovative products as well as impact on others who he/she has managed or trained. The packets will be valid for three consecutive years. The packet should be submitted to Martin_Gilar@waters.com.
Selection Process
Nominations will be considered by a group consisting of selected members of the Permanent HPLC Symposium Committee, and industrial researchers.
Awardees
The award recipient will receive a commemorative plaque, a $7,500 check and travel support. He/she will have an opportunity to present a research lecture at the following HPLC Symposium. The 2025 award will be given at the 54th International Symposium on High-Performance-Liquid-Phase Separations and Related Techniques (HPLC 2025) held from June 15-19, 2025 in Bruges, Belgium.
